Kitchen Meets Outdoors

Wow, what a transformation! This kitchen renovation has completely changed the way the homeowners can enjoy their home

The clients came to our team at Smith & Sons Franklin wanting a new kitchen with better connection to their outdoor living area and they wanted expert help to work out how to make it happen

During the design phase, we identified that removing the existing built-in pantry at the end of the kitchen would allow us to install a large double glazed aluminium ranch slider opening directly onto the existing deck. As this required structural changes, a new structural beam was needed. Our team coordinated the plans and building consent process on behalf of the homeowners, taking care of the details needed to bring the design to life

The renovation also included a new kitchen window better suited to the space, significant electrical work to relocate the meter and switchboard, and an off-board motor rangehood to keep things nice and quiet. The beautiful new kitchen was designed and crafted by Cutting Edge, the kitchen company selected by the homeowners

And then there are those finishes! The terrazzo floor tiles bring so much character to the room, with the different flecks beautifully tying together the colours of the cabinetry. Smaller black mosaic tiles were chosen for the splashback and are highlighted by LED strip lighting for a striking finishing touch

The result is a light-filled, modern kitchen with a seamless connection to the outdoors. A space we can see these homeowners enjoying and entertaining in for many years to come!
