Minor Dwelling Build for Family Accommodation
After completing renovations on their main home, the property owners reached out to our team to explore the possibility of adding a minor dwelling for their adult children. At Smith & Sons Franklin, we guided them through the entire DPC process (design, plan, construct) to create the perfect space.
As part of the resource consent, the exterior design had to align with the large shed already on the property. This meant using dark weatherboards and roofing and joinery in Colorsteel Scoria, a rich red-brown hue. The new dwelling spans just under 65sqm and features two bedrooms, a bathroom, a small laundry, a living area, and a kitchen. While compact, the space feels open and well-utilized.
