This classic townhouse on Gloucester Street in Central Christchurch had been tenanted for many years and when the property became vacant a number of large scale renovations were needed to repair and improve the house.
The project by Smith & Sons Riccarton included EQC repair work, reinsulation and relining. The entire house was stripped back to bare structure and the walls straightened before rebuilding work could begin.
A further bedroom and 2 bathrooms were added where the lounge downstairs became a bedroom with ensuite and walk-in wardrobe. On the upstairs level a wall was removed to allow for the kitchen and living areas to become more open plan. Externally the old carport was removed and replaced with a new structure.
This major project was much needed to ensure the future viability of the property and it is now a very liveable city home.
